Acclaimed South Korean director Bong Joon-ho is busy putting the final touches on his highly anticipated sci-fi drama SNOWPIERCER, and in recent months we’ve been given a glimpse into the film’s characters and style.  In mid-April we got our first look at the character portraits (including a nearly unrecognizable Tilda Swinton as Mason below), and this morning the film’s very first trailer was released.

The film is set in the year 2031 where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine.  A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.  The impressive star-studded cast includes Tilda Swinton, Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Song Kang-ho, Alison Pill, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner, Ed Harris, and many more.

SNOWPIERCER was purchased by The Weinstein Company last fall, and is set to make its world premiere in South Korea on August 1st.  The film is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette which was published in 1983.  For more stories from the world of Tilda Swinton be sure to visit Tilda Swinton on FEELguide.
