Just because you’re eating fruit and vegetables doesn’t necessarily mean you’re getting anything nutritious out of them at all.  In an appearance on today’s CBS This Morning, author Jo Robinson gives co-hosts Charlie Rose, Norah O’Donnell, and Gayle King the surprising lowdown on which fruits and veggies are good and which are bad.  The #1 overall take-home is that humans’ obsession with all things sweet has diverted us from the world’s greatest source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants — bitter foods.  Robinson also adds that with regards to onions, white onions are the greatest source of nutrients, while red onions are the worst.  And those Gold & Delicious apples you love so much?  Turns out, not only are they loaded with too much sugar, but they can also trigger heart problems down the road.  She suggests you replace your Gold & Delcious apples with Gala, Granny Smith, or Red & Delicious instead.  With regards to salads, Robinson can’t say enough about arugula, the undisputed nutritional king of your salad bowl.  You can watch the interview in full below, and to pick up your own copy of Jo Robinson’s brand new book Eating On The Wild Side by visiting Amazon.  You can also check out Jo’s website at EatWild.com.
