If I had to vote for one artist whose music captures the zeitgeist of the past five years I think I would toss WASHED OUT‘s name into the hat.  The music project of Georgia-based Ernest Greene, WASHED OUT has been at the forefront of the chillwave genre like nobody’s business, especially with tracks such as 2009’s rapturous “Feel It All Around” which went around the world like wildfire.  In 2011 WASHED OUT released his dreamy debut album Within And Without, and earlier this morning he announced he’s just about ready to give us his sophomore album Paracosm on August 13th via SUB POP.  Paracosm “explores the album’s namesake phenomenon, where people create detailed imaginary worlds,” according to a press release.  Consequence Of Sound reports: “Recorded by Greene and produced again by Ben Allen in Athens and Atlanta, GA, the new album features over 50 different instruments, including ‘old keyboards like the Mellotron, Chamberlin, Novatron, and Optigan.’  Such relics assisted Greene in escaping into new creative avenues.”  You can watch the brand new trailer for Paracosm below, and for all things WASHED OUT be sure to follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and visit his home page at WASHEDOUT.net.
