DAFT PUNK have all but perfected the art of album rollout and promotion with their brilliantly handled campaign for their upcoming new album Random Access Memories. For the past couple months we’ve been gently guided along the path towards the album’s release as the French electronic duo have built the anticipation with their Collaborator Series. Filmed, edited, and produced by the team at The Creators Project and VICE, each behind-the-scenes featurette gives us more and more of an idea of not only what to expect from the album, but also how much they care about detail and concept. In the latest feature interview from the series, we are introduced to renowned Montreal pianist Chilly Gonzales who speaks about the role he played in the album’s creation. From his passion for mathematics, to the under-utilized and hair-raising potential of pure harmony, to the challenge DAFT PUNK gave him with bridging an A minor and a B flat, to what the the 18th century has to do with the legendary duo, it’s one of the most charming interviews from the series so far.
