Last night around 9:30pm was the first time in my life I can remember witnessing a moment and thinking to myself: “If I was a musician I’d be running home to write a song about this right now!”  I was out for a quick trip to the grocery story when I happened to see the hottest dad in the universe pushing his little baby across the street in a stroller.  I’m not sure why, but the lyrics “He was a hot-ass daddy wearing jooooooogging pants / And he let me take him back to my baaaaaaaaaachelor pad.”  But I digress.

Music is the most powerful of all arts as far as I’m concerned, and one of the most fascinating reasons is how one musician can transform another artist’s creation into something entirely different and unique.  Case in point is DAFT PUNK‘s new irresistibly danceable song “Get Lucky”.  It’s impossible not to feel good when you press play, so all the more credit goes to DAUGHTER who recently flipped this puppy upside down and turned it from 4 minutes of summer sunshine into 4 minutes of winter woe.  As FACT points out: “If the original was a glass-half-full sort of affair, DAUGHTER’s reading is hopeless and heartsore — singer Elena Tonra jettisons Pharrell’s good time cheer, and the instrumental is as brittle and limber as anything on ‘Coexist’.”  You can take it for a spin below.

Not to be outdone in the remake department is Floating Point’s 8-bit version of the track which you can listen to as well.  DAFT PUNK’s Random Access Memories is set for release on May 21st.  For all FEELguide stories related to DAFT PUNK be sure to visit DAFT PUNK on FEELguide.
