Yesterday I spent the whole day musing on they why’s and the how’s of what makes Mondays so miserable for so many millions of people. From the second I woke up, to the conversations I had with friends on the way to work, to the conversations I had during work, and the conversations I had on my way home from work — it seemed everybody was thinking the exact same thing: Mondays suck shit. Adding to this was the fact that around noon I began to realize that yes, indeed, I was fighting a cold. So last night after braving the biting Montreal cold and blowing snow, I managed to make it to my local grocery store where I stocked up on the ingredients for my favorite chicken soup recipe — as well as some lavender oil, some epsom salts, and some other trusted cure-alls. So after taking good care of myself I curled up in bed to listen to Rachel Zeffira‘s brand new LP, The Deserters. Rachel is a classically-trained Italian-Canadian singer, who happened to stumble into a ’60s-throwback group with Fraris Badwan of The Horrors, known as Cat’s Eyes.
