First published in The Hollywood Reporter (January 30, 2013) by Erin Carlson ☛  “In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music, how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand?” said the ceremony’s producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, in a statement Wednesday.  “We are honored that she has agreed to do a very special performance.”  No word on what that entails. Streisand, who last performed at the Academy Awards in 1977, when she sang “Evergreen” from A Star Is Born, for which she shared the best original song Oscar with lyricist Paul Williams.  The legendary entertainer also scored a best actress Oscar for 1968’s Funny Girl.  She was nominated in 1973 for her role in The Way We Were and later for producing 1991’s The Prince of Tides, a best picture contender, as well as co-writing the song “I Finally Found Someone” from 1996’s The Mirror Has Two Faces.  She also has won eight Grammys, four Emmys and a special Tony Award in 1970.  The Oscars will be presented February 24th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
