Director Bryan Singer must feel like a kid in a candy store right now.  He recently signed on to direct the latest instalment of the X-MEN franchise XMEN: Days Of Future Past, and earlier today he tweeted some pretty gigantic news: “Thrilled to announce @ianmckellen118 & @SirPatStew are joining the cast of #XMEN #DaysOfFuturePast #magneto #professorX More to come…”  As The Playlist wrote earlier this afternoon: “This has some pretty big implications, as in the comics the story jumps from a present day plot where the X-MEN fight against Mystique who is now a baddie, and fronts the Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants and future storyline (where we presume Stewart and McKellen fill in) where mutants live in internment camps. Of course, what ‘present’ is for the younger X-MEN remains to be seen. ‘X-MEN: First Class’ was set in the ’60s and we don’t presume it’ll jump too far ahead of that, so maybe the ‘future’ will follow ‘The Last Stand’? Confused yet?” You can read the full story by visiting The Playlist.  X-MEN: Days Of Future Past is scheduled to hit theatres on July 18, 2014.  You can get live updates on the film’s progress by following Bryan Singer on Twitter.
