Nicolas Winding Refn’s brilliant 2011 film DRIVE starring Ryan Gosling provided us with an incredible example of how music and cinema are so tightly intertwined (NOTE: this is not to be confused with my personal fantasy of being intertwined with a naked Ryan Gosling as we listen to the soundtrack in bed together).  DRIVE’s incredible soundtrack — comprised mainly of works by composer Cliff Martinez, but also huge contributions from THE CHROMATICS as well as COLLEGE — completely blurred the line between fantasy and reality.

Back when I was obsessed with DRIVE I can remember walking the streets of Montreal at night and being completely taken over by the music from that film.  The atmosphere that soundtrack created was so rich it carried itself beyond the limits of the theatre and lasted for months on end in my imagination.  And if it hadn’t been for DRIVE I would never have discovered the music of French musician and producer COLLEGE.  DRIVE is very much the gift that keeps on giving because COLLEGE just posted on Facebook a link to the music of DELAYSCAPE, a Danish producer who already has numerous EPs and releaseses via German label Anna Logue Records.  As COLLEGE describes: “His compositions are a subtle blend of tight melodies and techno minimalism.  Before finding a forthcoming release on our coming Composer Series division, he accepted Valerie’s invitation and treats us exclusively to this delightful little selection.”  Valerie is the pet project of COLLEGE which he started back in 2007, and is an ongoing artist network and music continuum.

I’ve attached some music of DELAYSCAPE below, but to stream his brand new mix which he created exclusively for Valerie simply CLICK HERE.  To enter the world of DELAYSCAPE be sure to follow him on Facebook and Soundcloud. For all things COLLEGE you can follow him on FacebookSoundcloud, as ValerieCollective.com.
