For one night only — tonight to be exact — fans of COLDPLAY will get to enjoy the brand new concert documentary COLDPLAY LIVE 2012 on the big screen.  And if you happen to miss it it’s not the end of the world, because the critically acclaimed film will air on EPIX staring this weekend. It arrives on home video and CD on November 19th.

Critics across the board are falling head over heels for the film, proving to be a long overdue veneration of the world’s biggest and most underrated band.  Drew Taylor of The Playlist writes: “Running a brisk hour long, this documentary combines footage from the band’s performances at Paris’ Stade de France, Montreal’s Bell Centre, and their headlining gig on the Pyramid Stage at England’s Glastonbury Music Festival. Combining these various gigs is a great idea for a number of reasons, and not only because we get these nifty, Google Maps-on-acid flashes where the camera zooms into some new location through a fog of zippy haze, but because we get to see things like Rihanna show up in Paris to perform a rousing rendition of the beautiful, brilliant ‘Princess of China,’ and watch how the band’s vibe and energy subtly changes as their location shifts.”

In an age where everyone is either a hipster, a cynic, or the dreaded combination of both, there’s something strangely refreshing about bands as hugely popular as COLDPLAY getting credit where credit is due.  I have the same appreciative post-cynicism attitude for Justin Bieber as well, which I wrote about in a recent post which you and read in the link below.  You can read The Playlist’s review of COLDPLAY LIVE 2012 by visiting The Playlist.  And to order your own copy of the documentary on CD, DVD or Blu-ray simply head over to Amazon.  For a full worldwide listing of the theatres where the film is playing tonight you can visit COLDPLAY.com.
