I can remember the first time I watched David Lynch‘s groundbreaking television cult classic TWIN PEAKS in the spring of 1990 when I was all of 14-years-old.  I will never forget that feeling of having discovered the meaning of “atmosphere” for the very first time.  There was something so deliciously unusual about the small, fictional Northwest town that Lynch had created, and it activated my newfound appetite for the phantasmagorical.

It’s not often when we can remember discovering a new feeling for the very first time, which is why I have a tendency to connect so many of my favorite works of this genre back to Lynch.  PORTISHEAD pulled these Lynchian strings when I first heard them, as does the music of James Blake, HOW TO DRESS WELL, and many others.  The latest addition to this list is STUBBORN HEART and their brand new self-titled album.  The band is repped by One Little Indian, which writes: “STUBBORN HEART’s self-titled debut of stunning and surprisingly poignant electronic soul emotes heartbreak over broken beats and dark, atmospheric space. The clean, ghostly production coalesces with Luca Santucci’s mournful vocal to positively ooze a bruised melancholy. Equally inspired by 80’s and 90’s electronic music and 60’s and 70’s soul, STUBBORN HEART never lose their passion for good pop music – everything from Hall & Oates to Timbaland.”

You can stream the album in full below, and pick up your own copy via Rough Trade or iTunes.  To enter the world of STUBBORN HEART be sure to visit STUBBORNHEART.com, and follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Soundcloud.
