Renowned San Francisco dermatologist Dr. Marie Jhin recently collaborated with photographer Roberto Greco on an interesting video painting recently profiled by the team at NOWNESS.  Jhin is the author of Beauty Secrets: Ancient and Modern Tips from the Far East, which she wrote and published upon her return from a tour of the Far East where she researched the beauty and holistic health secrets of Korea, China, and Japan.

These customs have existed for centuries and have stood the test of time, unlike modern Western beauty regimens.  In fact, Jhin’s fascination with the contrast between Eastern and Western beauty practices was the inspiration for the book.  In an interview with NOWNESS, Jhin reveals a handful of these Eastern customs which include Korean ginseng, Korean steam rooms (or “healing chambers”), seaweed plus Japanese camellia oil, as well as birdsnest soup: “For extra-radiant skin, cook up a seasonal batch of rejuvenating bird’s nest soup. This centuries-old Chinese dessert is made from the saliva swallows use to build their nests, known to improve blood circulation and boost elastin and collagen production in humans.”  You can read the full interview by visiting NOWNESS.com.

These and other ingredients take center stage in this Renaissance-inspired video painting directed by photographer Roberto Greco, with art direction by Tiffany Godoy.  To purchase your own copy of Dr. Marie Jhin’s book simply head over to Amazon, and you can visit her website at DrMarieJhin.com.
