There’s one reason and one reason only why the biggest figures in popular culture get dumped on so hard by the general public.  At the end of the day, nobody in the world wants to be seen as predictable, so rule number one is to shut down the fare of these superstars as nothing more than pure crap.  But the older I get, the less patience I have for cynicism.  And so begins my strange new appreciation of Justin Bieber.  I can remember a few years back when Justin’s music was coming out of every radio, every shopping mall, and every corner store nearly everywhere I went.  So yes, I too couldn’t stand the kid.  But as Justin continued to pump out more and more music through the years, I began to give him the benefit of the doubt simply for his sticktoitiveness.  Last Christmas, for instance, Biebs got me bad with his stunning cover of USHER’s “U Got It Bad” (check it out below), and most recently I had to give the kid full props for his cleverly doctored scandal about his supposedly “stolen” laptop which contained all sorts of personal pics and videos.  Turns out, it was all part of an elaborate hoax to promote his brand new collaboration with Nicki Minaj entitled “Beauty And The Beat” (see the full story courtesy of Good Morning America below).  Say what you will about Justin, the kid has cracked an impossible niche that bridges the worlds of pop, hip-hop, and R&B.  When I was his age my only talent was squeezing the most out of my tubes of Clearasil.
