There’s a carnivorous appetite these days for movie versions of our beloved 1980s television cartoon franchises (i.e. Alvin And The Chipmunks, The Smurfs), and now it’s time to add Peanuts to the growing list.  Earlier this week it was announced that Charlie Brown and his gang of friends are headed for the silver screen, and in a world where everyone and their grandmother are unflinching cynics, there’s good reason to let your guard down on this one because this film is shaping up to be potentially terrific. The Shulz family has been very careful about how this film treatment gets handled, which is why it’s taken them two years to choose their team carefully.  Steve Martino (Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who!, Ice Age: Continental Drift) will direct the film, and Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano writing the script.  But perhaps the most exciting news is the fact that Blue Sky Studios will be the wizards behind the animation.  Blue Sky has a brilliant track record for bringing this kind of material to the big screen, so it’s going to be amazing to see what they do with Charlie Brown that’s for sure.  And interest will certainly be at a fever pitch — Peanuts will arrive in theatres on November 25, 2012, right in line with the comic series’ 65th anniversary and American Thanksgiving.
