Manchester master producer HOLY OTHER isn’t releasing his highly anticipated new album Held until August 27th, but earlier today he opened free streaming of all 9 tracks in their entirety. It’s impressive to say the least, and could easily rank as one of my favorite albums of 2012 by the time December 31st rolls around. Drowned In Sound has a terrific review of the album, and the following is a short excerpt: “Calling it ‘electronic music’ is, of course, a somewhat vague definition. The work of HOLY OTHER has been variously described, along with other releases on the Tri-Angle label, as dubstep, R&B, ambient and witch house. It’s somewhere between all these genres really (although I couldn’t tell you with any real confidence what constitutes ‘witch house’).
