Director Ramin Bahrani (Man Push Cart, Goodbye Solo) is the latest whiz to take a crack at directing one of Sigur Rós’ videos to accompany a song off their latest (phenomenal) album Valtari. Bahrani takes the track “Ég anda” and intertwines two colliding sets of imagery: one of iconography from human civilization (wait for Frank Gehry’s wavy NYC condo tower clad in metal), and the other of various small animals such as goldfish, ducks, and turtles. There’s really no point in squinting your brain too much on this one — I’m happy to assume the message is that the price of human progress is the impact it has on the countless innocent creatures of our world (whether farmed or environmentally affected). Take it for a spin yourself below, and if Bahrani is to your liking be sure to watch out for his upcoming film At Any Price with Zac Efron and Dennis Quaid. There are rumours it could appear at this year’s Venice Film Festival.
