Augustus William Hare once wrote, “Life is the hyphen between matter and spirit.”  And there are occasional moments when that “life” of yours gets excited by all sorts of things: love, passion, ecstasy, sex, bliss, awe, beauty, wonder — and even music.  I had a moment the other morning in my bed as I woke up to discover a song and video from Swedish pop group JJ entitled “Beautiful Life” and there was something about it that resonated strongly with my own “life hyphen”.  I think the power of entertainment that goes most unacknowledged is how its immersive nature pulls us closer towards the “now” and the present moment, and temporarily shuts down our obsessions and worries about the past and the future.  And JJ’s “Beautiful Life” did just that for me — for just over three minutes I found myself not only living in the moment, but also in a place of appreciation and gratitude of how truly beautiful life really is.  It’s so easy to take it for granted sometimes, but it’s just as easy to remember that the present moment is the only place where this beautiful life reveals itself in its full glory.  You can pick up your own copy of JJ’s “Beautiful Life” by CLICKING HERE.
