Chris Butler and Sam Fell are the directors behind one of the most highly anticipated films of 2012.  I have been tracking their film ParaNorman for a little while now, and I am willing to bet the bank that this 3D film is about to blow moviegoers away in a very major way.  There is something fascinating and fundamentally mystical going on in the two trailers that have been released to-date (one this past Halloween 2011, and the latest one released last Friday).  Apart from the jaw-dropping animation work on display here, the atmosphere that this film has conjured promises to be nothing short of magic in a bottle.  The Portland, Oregon-based animation studio LAIKA is the dream team that has brought Butler’s and Fell’s story to life, which increases the odds that ParaNorman is about to be a gigantic hit considering it was LAIKA that brought us the amazingness that was Coraline back in 2009 (which Butler also worked on).  The story revolves around Norman Babcodk (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee) whose gift of being able to see dead people will serve him very well when he has to come to his town’s rescue in order to save it from a wide range of supernatural monsters.  Casey Affleck, John Goodman, Jeff Garlin, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Elaine Stritch round out the impressive cast.  ParaNorman is scheduled to blow you away on August 17th.  To enter the world of ParaNorman be sure to visit ParaNorman.com, and to learn more about LAIKA you can visit LAIKA.com.
