Birkwin Jersey (a.k.a. Graeme Coop) is a brilliant Brighton, U.K.-based producer whose music is wrapping me in a thick layer of folky fuzz this morning as I look out through my Montreal window at what would appear to anyone living along the equator to be a contradiction: a sunny blue sky mixed with deadly cold air.  An arctic blast has snapped the 2012 winter heat wave we had been enjoying up to now right in two, and replaced it with a bitter freeze (if you would like to experience what it would feel like to stick your head out my Saturday morning Montreal window simply walk over to your refrigerator, hold your head inside your freezer, and you will get an instant feel for a February in Montreal).  But all this is forgotten as I listen to Birkwin Jersey’s beautiful new EP entitled Old Hands which he’s giving away for free to you and yours (you can also make a donation if you like).  He brilliantly describes his style of music as “Beat-Driven Folk Collages”, and at times it’s reminiscent of Kings Of Convenience – meets – Flying Lotus, yet Old Hands goes beyond this combination and creates something entirely new and uniquely Birkwinjersian.  You can listen to the beauty below as well as grab your own free copy by CLICKING HERE.  For links to 2 more of his free giveaways be sure to visit his bio on his Facebook page where you can also follow him, and you can hear more from Birkwin Jersey on Soundcloud, as well as his label Absent Fever.
