Dr. Nancy Snyderman is NBC News’ Chief Medical Correspondent, and last night she presented Brian Williams with a fascinating albeit alarming report on the fall of cancer-related deaths (specifically breast, lung, and colon) in the United States since the government began tracking the numbers in the early 1990s.  The flip side of this good news, however, is much darker.  The data from the American Cancer Society reveals a troubling surge in four other types of cancer: throat, esophageal, pancreatic, and thyroid.  Snyderman’s prediction is that in the coming years, researchers will begin linking various cancers directly to one of America’s most dangerous emerging health threats: obesity.  So put down that donut and reach for the salmon instead.  That’s an order.
