Summer Camp‘s brand new album Welcome To Condale was released on November 8th, and it’s swiftly secured its rightful place with the very best of British indie-pop. Summer Camp is composed of singers Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey, and the concept for their latest album was inspired by John Hughes‘ imaginary town of Shermer, Illinois. From beginning to end, the duo takes their fans on a dreamy voyage through their own fictional “Condale, California”, with terrific production work courtesy of Pulp veteran Steve Mackey. Among the standouts on the album are “Better Off Without You” and the more sincere “Brian Krakow”, but the entire album is a thoroughly nostalgic and delicious experience, evoking those coming-of-age years when everything oozed with pubescent sexuality, dreaminess, and idealized pop-fueled visions of the world around us.
