Werner Herzog‘s upcoming documentary on the state of capital punishment in America is being released on November 11 this year — a request made by Herzog himself to Sundance Selects who were originally going to release Into The Abyss in 2012.  Sundance Selects agreed with Herzog, likely due to the resurgence of debate regarding executions brought on by such high profile deaths as Troy Davis.  This has been a brilliant year for Herzog, whose other 2011 documentary Cave Of Forgotten Dreams is officially the highest-grossing doc of the year.  Into The Abyss already appears to be another out-of-the-park homerun for Herzog, with an endless stream of early rave reviews.  For more information on the film be sure to visit The Playlist, and check out the brand new first trailer below.
