The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of such savant-like skills as being able to memorize every detail of every second of your entire life, the first thing that comes to mind is a Dustin Hoffman-type character who tallies the number of toothpicks that have fallen on the floor. But in this 60 Minutes report entitled “The Gift Of Endless Memory” we get a glimpse at a world of human capability that borders on the super human and the everyday. Watch as Lesley Stahl reveals a world where these average — yet not so average people — are able to remember and recount every single minute and every single detail of the entirety of their lives. Scientists agree that the brains of these extremely rare individuals hold the keys to unlocking the cures for an untold number of neurological disorders. I couldn’t take my eyes off this.
