I’m mildly obsessed with director Nicolas Winding Refn right now, and his latest film Drive starring Ryan Gosling. I can remember several months ago hearing about all the incredible buzz this film had generated at this year’s Cannes, but I must admit I never went much beyond the headlines — even though Mr. Hotness himself was the leading man, the fact that it was a new director and the name of the movie was “Drive” didn’t exactly get me all revved up. But after seeing it yesterday I can’t stop thinking about it. I would not be surprised at all to see Refn get a Best Director Oscar nom, and Ryan Gosling a nod for Best Actor. Absolutely incredible.
