Apparat has a brand new album coming out entitled The Devil’s Walk, and judging from this stunning new fan-made video for the album’s first preview track “Black Water”, it is an album not to be missed. I got wind of it from the brilliant team over at DUMMY who wrote, “This made one of us literally cry.” And you will understand why when you check it out for yourself. David Dean Burkhart is the man behind the editing on this lovely gem where he mixes the emotional sonic landscape of “Black Water” with clips from Wim Wenders’ 1984 film Paris, Texas, and the results are spectacular. And as far as the entire album is concerned, just this morning I noticed Apparat posted the following on their Facebook page:
The Devil’s Walk will be out this Friday or (depending on where you live) next Monday or Tuesday. It’s my 4th studio album and it wasn’t quite easy in the making. We started working on it in Sayulita/Mexico about 2 years ago and finished it in Berlin this year. I’m happy about all the help of all the cool people who took the devils walk with me. Apparat (Sascha Ring) is based in Berlin and was previously a co-owner of Shitkatapult records. Starting out with dance floor-oriented techno, he later started to create ambient music and more recently became “more interested in designing sounds than beats”. In May 2009, he released the self-titled album with Modeselektor under the name Moderat on BPitch Control. The Devil’s Walk will be released in Germany on September 23rd, the UK and France on September 26th, and North America on September 27th.
