Everytime I use Soundcloud, the waveform graphs never seem to get old. Soundcloud is the highest profile platform for these types of sound wave graphs, and they assert that their site “not only makes sound look good, it makes it social.” Humans are pattern seeking creatures, so the waveform gives us a perfect window into seeing our favorite songs automatically translated into these feathery, symmetrical gems. Design Observer recently took a closer look at how this new and explosive technology is manifesting itself in the arts scene, and came up with some great examples of how various artists have been inspired by the form.
