David Bowen is a kinetic, robotic and interactive sculptor currently exhibiting this ingenious piece at The National Museum in Wroclaw, Poland. The installation pulls live data from the intensity and movement of the water from NOAA buoy station #46246 off the coast of British Columbia (see map below to get an appreciation for the distance between the two locations) and recreates in Poland the intensity and frequency of the waves that the buoy is experiencing in the Pacific Ocean. The result is a live vectorized wireframe recreation of the water’s movement from a location thousands of miles away. Absolutely brilliant.
