Planetary Folklore just posted this brilliant video by Lasal which sets up a beautiful interplay of geometry, time, and music. Pulling inspiration from a timepiece interface with 3 central rotating hands and 6 ancilliary hands, the interplay between the hands becomes more and more elegant with each second and results in a beautiful “found” music. The designer implemented an algorithm to switch the direction and speed of the hands depending on how they relate to each other at any given time, and has thereby created a stunning and poetic example of art showing us how geometry, time, and music can work together to reveal patterns that are far more complex and mesmerizing when used together than when used independently. So sit back, take “Hexagram” for a spin, and enjoy the sound of geometry.
