It’s 11:30pm and I’m just now settling in from a long day at the office.  I’ve been working on the set designs for the third season of the TV series Blue Mountain State and today was my final day so I needed to cross the T’s and dot the I’s on all of my drawings which means I’m surprised I’m still awake after sitting in bed for ten minutes now.  I probably would have been zonked out at this point had it not been for this gem of a dance beat by Teams vs. Star Slinger called “Life Partner”.  The bass is especially unique — I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything that sounds quite like this before.  If it makes any sense at all, it almost sounds as if the bass has been “inverted” (i.e. the acoustic equivalent of how a photograph is solarized resulting in a silvery/opposite effect).  Whatever it is they’ve done it sounds brilliant, and not to mention the fact that it has a certain “song of the summer” catchiness.
