NASA just released this video last week showing a huge comet blasting straight into the sun, and the resulting explosion is spectacular. Worth noting is that the white ring is in fact the sun’s exact location, and the red occulting disk is added by the astronomers in order to block out the blinding light in order to see the other structures in the Sun’s corona.
