I just came across the brand new trailer for this dark re-telling of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale by young up-and-coming director Julia Leigh.  Here’s the synopsis from the film’s Vimeo page: “Death-haunted, quietly reckless, Lucy is a young university student who takes a job as a Sleeping Beauty. In the Sleeping Beauty Chamber old men seek an erotic experience that requires Lucy’s absolute submission. This unsettling task starts to bleed into Lucy’s daily life and she develops an increasing need to know what happens to her when she is asleep.” I’m cautiously optimistic about this one — looks like a lot of sombre, stylistic imagery reminiscent of Never Let Me Go, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see if there’s any muscle on these bones when and if the film eventually gets released.  To learn more about the film be sure to visit their website at SleepingBeautyFilm.com.
