I recently posted a story about the upcoming Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty (read the full story HERE) which will pay tribute to the extraordinary life and work of the groundbreaking designer.  The week before the Oscars I went back and watched a few of my favorite nominated films, one of which was The Social Network. One of the most memorable lines in the movie happens near the beginning when Mark Zuckerberg turns to his business partner Eduardo Saverin and explains to him how Facebook is kind of like fashion because “it’s never finished.” I was really struck by that line because it’s so bang-on.  Fashion never really can be finished, so year after year these gifted designers continue to produce the most magnificent works of art that keep blowing our minds over and over again.  This is one of the biggest reasons that fashion has always been one of the crown jewels of artistic expression: it keeps shedding its skin as it shows us who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going.
