Good news for Star Wars fans. A research team has just created a real time 3D hologram of Princess Leia. The image quality might not be very clear, but it does outdo previous attempts by increasing the frame rate by a factor of 30. It was created in part using Xbox 360’s Kinect™ gesture-recognition system.

Here are the “less sexy” previous attempts, although they’re each beautiful in their own right from an artistic perspective:
