When describing the months of January and February in Montreal, there is a nearly impossible chance of ever using the words “paradise” or “forgiving”.  Notwithstanding my overwhelming preference for a sunny beach, I have to admit strangely enough that I might actually be starting to lean ever-so-slightly towards enjoying this winter.  The worst is always the beginning around late November when I usually get overwhelmed by thoughts like, “It’s all downhill from here.” But now that I’ve found myself smack dab in the middle of the “bottom of the hill” (i.e. when it’s so cold the radio stations have to warn the public that exposed skin can freeze in less than 60 seconds) I’ve started to come to terms with my cold nemesis.  This is the time of the year when those dark thoughts begin to turn around towards “It can only get better” and “Hey, check out these trippy frost patterns on my windows!”
