Simin Qiu is a student at London’s Royal College of Art, whose design for an energy-saving water faucet is gaining worldwide attention. Upon observing water’s natural spiraling behavior in nature and in pipes, Qui also observed how water moves slower in a spiral than it does when moving in a straight line. This was the genesis for Qiu’s brilliant spiral-directed water faucet — a faucet which uses 15% less water than its conventional counterpart. Qiu’s Swirl design won an iF Design concept award in 2014, and his faucet will almost certainly be coming to a store near you very soon. You can visit Simin’s Behance page to learn more.
