The Atlantic recently compiled a stunning gallery of images taken by various astronauts and spacecraft. There are 38 amazing images in the gallery, and there is a link below to see them all. In the first of my faves you will see the Moon passing the Sun which was captured by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) satellite on May 3, 2011. The second is a close-up of the sun’s surface (worth noting is the cells in the upper portion of the photo are each 1000km-wide). And in the third image an animated GIF shows the gigantic dancing loops dancing across the sun’s surface.
